Letter To The Editor By Pastor Fred Phelps: Topekans Blessed To Have Westboro Prophets

Dear editor,

A recent letter writer (“God’s will,” 11/20/12) joined the throngs of thankless Topekans, wishing for Westboro to take its message of kind warning to another town (Las Vegas).  This scorn for the plain standard of God permeates this town, and will be its demise.

The stiff necked people of Topeka are blind to the fact that it is a great blessing from God for His prophets to still be amongst you.  In mercy He has sent us, rising up early every day, to warn you.  Your proud pervasive sin has brought the wrath of God – on you, your house, the city, the state, and the nation.

“But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till there was no remedy,” 2 Chronicles 36:16.

Words couldn’t be plainer.  When the servants of God at Westboro Baptist Church quit themselves of Topeka, Kansas – Topeka, Kansas will be done – forever.

What a testimony we will have at the White Throne of the many times and ways we entreated you to obey.  Whole generations of Topekans are utterly and woefully without excuse.

Fred W. Phelps

Pastor

Westboro Baptist Church
