Departed Unbelievers

Westboro Baptist Church Statement Regarding
The Departure and Exclusion of Non-Believers

At Westboro Baptist Church, our duty regarding our children is simple – we raise them by a Bible standard. Our children are taught from the cradle what the Lord their God requires of them. Some of those children are given the grace of God, make a sincere profession of faith, and choose to suffer afflictions with the people of God rather than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season. Others, when they come to years, simply decide that they don’t want to live by the standards of God, and they leave without ever making a profession of faith. Still others claim a profession of faith for a time, but eventually are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life (Luke 8:14) and eventually leave, being overcome by those desires.

The WBC does not control salvation, nor do we apologize for the ungodly that go out from us (Jude 15). The Bible is full of examples of people that walked in a Godly manner for a while and then departed from the truth, including: Judas Iscariot, Demas, Hymenaeus, Alexander, Philetus, Ananias, Sapphira, Korah, Saul, Esau, Cain, and many others. At John 6:66 many of Christ’s own disciples turned back and walked no more with him. In Christ’s parable of the sower and the seed (Mat. 13) three of four of His examples in the parable are people turning back and becoming offended and leaving His way. They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us (1 John 2:19). Christ says the way to heaven is strait and narrow and few there be that find it and many will seek to enter and will be turned back (Luke 13:24 and Mat. 7:14). There is no room in Christ’s way for the lukewarm (Rev. 3:16). God has no pleasure in any man that draws back (Heb. 10:38).

The eternal standards of God do not change because any man wills them to. The Westboro Baptist Church will not negotiate, revise or diminish a single standard of God – Gal. 5:19-21: Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. Neither becoming offended and leaving Christ’s Church nor refusing to walk orderly and becoming excluded changes God or His standard.

As to the issue of homosexuality, God gave them (Sodomites) up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves, to vile affections and to do that which is unseemly and for such are worthy of death (Rom. 1:24-32). They are set forth as an example suffering the vengeance of eternal fire (Jude 7). Homosexuality is an abomination to God and brought the death penalty in the Old Testament (Lev. 18:22 and Lev. 20:13).

As to the fate of those that drawback unto perdition, 2nd Pet. 2:21-22 speaks to the matter. For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, the dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.

The Church of the Lord Jesus Christ will never deny the principles that God set down for her in this earth, including 1 Cor. 11:19 “For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you.” Satan will not get any sheep, just goats (Mt. 25:32-33)!
