A pep rally, a parade, an orgy and a circus:
Now THAT is a spectacle!
The saints of God at WBC had a job to do: go warn those still alive in Bethalto, IL to stop worshipping the dead, to stop their sinning; that the destruction of this nation is upon her, and that the ONLY remedy is to repent and obey God. On the way back, they had a second stop to make: a message of warning to the residents of St. Charles, MO that their attempt to frame mischief by a law would have no effect on the sorely-needed preaching of WBC other than to 1) bring the wrath of God down on their heads, and 2) create another media platform for us to preach through (so, thanks St. Chas!).
When we got to Bethalto, we saw the patriotic pep rally (they called a funeral) in full swing. This wasn’t about ‘shielding a grieving family’ from anything: this was about a full-on flip-off of God Almighty. This was about callous defiance wrapped in red, white and blue. The streets were lined with thousands of flags, and thousands of miniature versions were clutched in the hands of rebels against God. The scene was kind of an eerie coupling of Norman Rockwell paintings and ‘Herman’ comic strips. These people don’t care about the standards of God – they don’t care that America is a nation of proud sinners. So this was what we were supposed to say to them:
But thou shalt say unto them, This is a nation that obeyeth not the voice of the LORD their God, nor receiveth correction: truth is perished, and is cut off from their mouth. – Jer. 7:28.
This means that we are supposed to tell you that:
1. You are disobedient;
2. You don’t respond appropriately to any correction, discipline or chastening;
3. There is no one on your landscape (read: preachers) that tells the truth of God – they all lie about God’s standards in one way or another; and
4. That the inability of these preachers to tell the truth is a) at God’s hand, and b) what you love.
So we told you that. And this is what is supposed to happen:
And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not. Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed. – Isa. 6:9-10
So that’s what happened.
The orgy of fag lies was so thick – dripping off the tongues of both young and old – that I marveled for a moment as to how their hearts could become fatter – their ears more heavy – their eyes further shut. As people paraded their pick-ups and Harleys up and down the main drag, like a vile, white-trash, phony patriot Macy’s parade, I watched as their hatred and incredulity showed (or shone) on their countenances. It was as if, all in a glance, they were saying inside their minds, “There is no way that what you have on those signs is right! O, shit! If that’s right, then we’re toast! We don’t wanna be toast! But we love to sin! Shit!Argghhhh!! Kill them!”
At one point a law enforcement officer, obviously conflicted by his duty to keep the peace constantly rubbing up against his visceral hatred of God’s word, blurted out to the driver of a car who slowed as he passed by our brightly colored signs: “Move along! Get outta here! There’s nothing to see here!” Nothing to see – except the spectacle that the Lord has made of us. He made EVERYBODY look. Cha-ching. The pep rally, the parade and the orgy were designed to hold the truth in unrighteousness – but all they did was glorify His name EVEN MORE! What they meant for evil, God meant for good.
We then sojourned to St. Charles MO – a very devout, Christian community (read: rebels, pimps and perverts) who felt the need to pass laws to keep God’s word several hundred feet away from their hearts. We wondered, mockingly, if they had gotten around to passing a law that repealed HELL – or a law that repealed God’s ABSOLUTE sovereignty. I mean, why keep absolute sovereignty or hell at 300 feet, if you can just get rid of it altogether? : In this sleepy little God-hating community, on this day, the Lord God created a MEDIA CIRCUS and made us a SPECTACLE!
For I think that God hath set forth us the apostles last, as it were appointed to death: for we are made a spectacle unto the world, and to angels, and to men. – 1.Cor. 4:9
Dozens of media shooting video, snapping pictures, writing and recording words – all FOR HIS GLORY! And all of those pictures, words and video will be used OVER AND OVER AGAIN, to glorify His name against that evil state of Missouri (home of famous God-hater, Mark Twain), until the great and terrible day of His return in power and glory. On that great day, let’s see how far your fat, gimpy vets’ chanting of “USA! USA!” will get you! On that day, you’ll be chanting, “ROCKS AND MOUNTAINS! ROCKS AND MOUNTAINS!” – begging them to fall on you to hide you from the wrath of the Lamb. And on that day, the media will be in more trouble than most – because you asked the questions, heard the truth, and wrote down lies anyway – edited out whatever you hated most – holding the truth in unrighteousness (Rom. 1:18). What you meant for evil, God meant for good. God got Him MUCH glory on this day.
What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice. – Phil. 1:18
We rejoice. Yea, and will rejoice.
