Letter To The Washington Daily News

Dear editor,

Regarding your column on our funeral picketing (see http://www.tdn.com/news/opinion/article_abb26496-36e4-11df-9fb1-001cc4c03286.html), how thrilling to read we’re unwelcome nationwide. We’re in good company. The prophets, apostles and Christ were all unwelcome – killed by people claiming to be loving and tolerant like you.

The details of the dead soldiers’ lives, deaths and funerals fill up the airwaves. We joined that international public debate with a viewpoint you hate: Stop sinning and they’ll stop dying. The rest of you are too selfishly-invested in your own sin to state this simple and obvious truth.

Don’t pretend this is a close question of balancing our right to speak against your right to worship the dead. Hundreds of bikers, citizens, clergy, media and politicians pile up directly outside the funerals, with flapping mouths and flags. We stand hundreds (or thousands) of feet away, and leave before the funeral begins, in Maryland never seen or heard. We disrupt nothing; you all know the soldiers have full funerals, memorials, and burials, with all 304 million of you bowing down before their coffins.

This is not a tough call. All of the law is on our side. The only question is whether you rebels are prepared to shred the blessing God gave you called the First Amendment, to protect the right to sin. You won’t obey God’s law, so little wonder you ignore your own.

This nation’s doom is imminent. No court ruling is going to deliver you from the wrath of God. You should have obeyed, and taught those young soldiers to do the same. Now it’s too late.
