Dear friends in Palo Alto, CA:
I am the mother of eleven children. I also have twelve brothers and sisters, forty-five nieces and nephews, four grandchildren and five great nieces and nephews. Also, my parents yet abide in this earth and are faithful to the Living God.
Last evening my husband sent me an NPR story about your children casting themselves in front of the train. The response of seventy of your parents is to join forces to try to stop what has become a terror in your community. It will not work.
California has received many, many GodSmacks, and those punishments are only growing in frequency and severity. Yet you will not see and acknowledge that smiting rod and who has appointed it!
In reading the NPR story, I see the face of those Scriptures that discuss “delicate people.” Your city has been heavily blessed with great resources from the hand of the Living God. He required only ONE thing back from you: obedience. Your duty was to teach your children every day in every way with everything that you do and say to obey God – but you would not. You thought you could tidy up God and make Him go away – but He will not.
Your children came into this world knowing nothing. God promised to such a people as you that if you will teach those children (1) that He is a liar, (2) to rebel against their creator – the God of Eternity, whose name is Jealous, (3) to serve idols, and (4) to have a filthy manner of life – then that he will bereave you of your children. That is what God is doing in Palo Alto, where the people are so delicate that they won’t even use the “suicide” word – so delicate that they call hurling yourself in front of the train “misuse of the tracks.” Wake up!
How perfect is the face of this?! The parents, teachers, leaders of Palo Alto would not open your mouth to teach your children what the Lord their God required of them, and now you cannot open your mouth to tell those children what is happening right in front of their noses. You send in grief “counselors” that have NO answers to tell them about their classmates. You are provoking those children to wrath. You are making them raging mad. They see what the impact is upon you. You have no affect in your presentation, and they know it. You act like you can fix everything with your money. So God has put it upon their hearts to pay you back to your face by killing themselves in a horrible fashion.
We’re talking about Palo Alto, where the parents purchase the house near campus as an investment property so your little sweethearts can live in a house while they get their higher education – but you failed to teach them what they need to have any success in this life. Here is what you should have been telling them all the days of their lives, to wit:
Deuteronomy 6:1-9 Now these are the commandments, the statutes, and the judgments, which the LORD your God commanded to teach you, that ye might do them . . . That thou mightest fear the LORD thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son’s son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged. Hear therefore, . . ., and observe to do it; that it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase mightily, as the LORD God of thy fathers hath promised thee, in the land that floweth with milk and honey. Hear, . . . The LORD our God is one LORD: And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.
Luke 12:15 And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.
Ec 12:13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. 14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
Eph 6:4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
God is pouring out his wrath upon you and you will yet not repent and begin to fear and obey your God. If you want the smiting rod of God off your backs, and to instead have peace and blessings from Him for yourselves and for your children, the answer isn’t to put up a watch; the answer is to put away your false gods, your idols, and your filthy manner of life and obey the God that has the power to keep your children in all their ways. Every other response is foolishness and vainity, and will only bring more curses, and at the end of that process is an eternity in hell. What will you do then?
