“Tweaching” — It’s How We Roll

Did you know you can follow Westboro Baptist Church and many of her members on Twitter?  Throughout this short video, we will place WBC Twitter avatars on the screen for you to note for your future reference.  Be sure and take notes.

@WBCSays, this church’s primary Twitter account, has over 18,000 followers and counting.  Many WBC members also have accounts with tens of thousands of followers combined.

Twitter is an on-line social networking service that enables users to send and read “tweets”, which are text messages limited to 140 characters.  Registered users can read and post tweets, but unregistered users can only read them. Users access Twitter through the website interface, Short Message Service (SMS) or mobile device apps.  Twitter Inc. is based in San Francisco and has offices in New York City, Boston, San Antonio and Detroit, and has become internationally identifiable with its signature bird logo.  And a cute little logo it is, reminding one of a dove, as in God’s people are “harmless as doves” (Matthew 10:16), but I digress.

Created in 2006 by four young geeks, Twitter has seen explosive growth, so that today there are over 600 million active registered Twitter users with another 150,000 or so signing up every day producing over 340 million Tweets a day.  Twitter is one of the 10 most visited websites.  One of Twitter’s founders recently announced on 60 Minutes the company’s goal is to reach everybody on the planet.

Now, as a genuine church of the Lord Jesus Christ, WBC’s mission is to preach to the world; that’s the primary reason we exist.  Consider this New Testament passage:

And [Jesus] said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.  He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.  * * *  So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.  And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following.  Amen.  (Mark 16:15-20).

Please note from that passage these fundamental truths –

1. The Lord’s people are to preach to “all” the world, that’s A-L-L!  Stated otherwise, they are to preach “everywhere.”  Last I checked “everywhere” includes the whole world.
2. Those that believe that preaching and are then baptized shall be saved, period!  That’s how the salvation process works.  Everybody else is damned.
3. When we preach, the Lord works with us and confirms the words.

So, against that backdrop, you can easily understand why WBC uses Twitter; it’s a great preaching tool to reach the world, and it works.  WBC has literally reached every corner of the world with her Twitter preaching ministry that we like to call Tweaching! (T-W-E-A-C-H-I-N-G).

Thus saith the Lord, the heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool:  where is the house that ye build unto me? And where is the place of my rest?  (Isaiah 66:1).  The earth – this world – is the Lord’s “footstool”; that is to say, on which he treads, it is below him and completely subject to him.  He disposes of the world’s inhabitants as he pleases, and he is not limited to any part of it.
