In last month’s video news, I talked about God’s imminent fiery destruction on America and the world. Since then, wildfires continue to rage across the western United States. As you can see from this map, there are presently over 30 such fires. [Map is found at http://activefiremaps.fs.fed.us/lg_fire2.php]. It’s still all about the fire, America, and will continue so to be!
Let’s look at another passage of scripture on this point, specifically Malachi 4:1 (the opening verse of the last chapter of the Old Testament):
For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the Lord of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.
Note these truisms from that powerful text and its context –
- The time of this thorough burning will be at the end of the world, called the “great and dreadful day of the Lord” in the 5th verse of that same chapter 4;
- This burning will be a complete and entire destruction; neither “root nor branch” will be left;
- This will be a fiery oven-like destruction, involving high temperatures and intense heat, as you would find in a furnace;
- Those who do “wickedly” will provide the kindling for this fire; and,
- This will be a sudden and abrupt destruction, as suggested by the phrase “behold, the day cometh.”
This fire destroys the “stubble”; that word translated “stubble” is Qash, meaning straw or chaff. The prophet Isaiah has more to say on who makes up this “stubble” at Isaiah 5:24 –
Therefore as the fire devoureth the stubble, and the flame consumeth the chaff, so their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust: because they have cast away the law of the Lord of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.
In other words, this “stubble” refers to human beings who energetically reject God’s standards and despise His word. Sounds like the population of America!
I close with this from the 21st Psalm:
Thou shalt make them as a fiery oven in the time of thine anger: the Lord shall swallow them up in his wrath, and the fire shall devour them.
It’s still all about the fire, America!
