“Great Peace Have They Which Love Thy Law, And Nothing Shall Offend Them.” Psalm 119:165

S. Wily:

This is the second in a series of responses to your questions to WBC.

I have also read that there have been several charges against your congregation for different offenses including the supreme court case Snyder v. Phelps. Has your church ever lost a court case concerning the right to free speech?

We obey the law and are void of offense toward God and toward men. (Acts 24:16) When an entire generation of willfully Bible-ignorant morons occupy every inch of the landscape, they find offense at clear Bible words. “Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech” (1 Cor 3:12).

The season that the Apostle Paul warned of is upon this evil nation: “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” (2 Timothy 4:3-4).

Because they hated the Lord’s instruction and wisdom, he has taken their peace away from them. (“When he giveth quietness, who then can make trouble? and when he hideth his face, who then can behold him? whether it be done against a nation, or against a man only: That the hypocrite reign not, lest the people be ensnared.” Job 34:29-30). Therefore, like those reprobate nations in the past, this nation has taken on their characteristics. So, as they did the prophet Isaiah, they have done to Westboro Baptist Church: they make a man an offender for a word. (Isa. 29:21: “That make a man an offender for a word, and lay a snare for him that reproveth in the gate, and turn aside the just for a thing of nought.”) And, their device against us is to lie and generate a pretense of an offense. Like they did Jeremiah: “For I heard the defaming of many, fear on every side. Report, say they, and we will report it. All my familiars watched for my halting, saying, Peradventure he will be enticed, and we shall prevail against him, and we shall take our revenge on him.” (Jer 20:10)).

Ps 119:165: “Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.”

The thing that they need to be concerned with is the offences that they have perpetrated against Westboro Baptist Church. Matthew 18:6-7: “But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea. Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh!”

Though they have outdone themselves pretending offense and bringing charges (false) against the Lord’s servants at Westboro Baptist Church; and though they have intended them for evil, the Lord has intended them for the good of his people and for the furtherance of the preaching of His Gospel which is the magnifying of his glory. (Gen 50:20: “But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.” Ro 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Php 1:12: “But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel;”)

A good example is the outrage of the case of Snyder v. Phelps. There was absolutely no support in the law under the facts of that case for it to have survived immediate dismissal at the trial court level. That federal judge put us on trial for our sincerely-held religious beliefs and expression, contrary to all legal precedent. A bigger miscarriage of justice and violence to the freedom of conscience in this country you cannot point to. But thereupon that case elevated our preaching to an international scale. That platform built for the preaching of the Gospel is permanent because of the chicanery by a corrupt federal judge and out-of-control federal jury in Baltimore, Maryland. God did that. Paul put it this way to the church at Thessalonica: 1 Thes. 3: “1 Wherefore when we could no longer forbear, we thought it good to be left at Athens alone; 2 And sent Timotheus, our brother, and minister of God, and our fellowlabourer in the gospel of Christ, to establish you, and to comfort you concerning your faith: 3 That no man should be moved by these afflictions: for yourselves know that we are appointed thereunto. 4 For verily, when we were with you, we told you before that we should suffer tribulation; even as it came to pass, and ye know.”

We have this testimony concerning our faithful preachments: 1 Cor 10: “31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. 32 Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God: 33 Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.” 2Ti 2:10 “Therefore [we] endure all things for the elect’s sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.” The perspective that we are interested in is how the angels of the Lord view the scene; the wordlings views, which are completely cattywampus, are supremely irrelevant.

The Snyder v. Phelps case is one in a long series of cases manufactured against WBC in retaliation by Satan due to WBC’s faithful ministry in preaching the Gospel to the whole world. Each and every one used as a vehicle by the Lord of the Harvest to publish his Gospel and accomplish the ends that he intends by his words preached. All wins; no loses. Batting 1000%. PS: As a happy side effect we rejoice evermore. See 1 Thes 5:16.
