Subject:  Answer to Cal Thomas

Dear editor,

Regarding his piece on our funeral picketing case before the Supreme Court, Cal Thomas is the hypocritical voice of the false prophets of doomed-america.  They love to lay hard speeches on anyone who obeys God’s standard (Jude 15).

In the past he has written in favor of our position that homosexuality is a sin, because it made him feel holy. Now, he stridently opposes our message because we’ve touched his idol.  He worships the dead.  Many false prophets do; professional mourning is good business.

You selfish brutes fill up the airwaves with words that convince your fellow man to disobey God.  Thereby you bring their destruction.  You will call for the mourning women and teach your daughters to wail!  (See Jer. 9:17-21.)  You’ve brought this nation to the condition described in Revelation 18, becoming the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.  Read the words!  Those are just a small snippet of the many powerful descriptions in the Scriptures of the imminent destruction of this rebellious land.  Stop pretending God doesn’t judge!  If you disobey him, he will curse you!

Thomas turns to a self-proclaimed stiff-necked atheist Jew, non-lawyer Nat Hentoff, to assure him that any disturbance at a religious event is not protected.  But you all know we don’t disturb anything – except your dark consciences with words.

Per our usual practice, we stood over 1,000 feet from the church in the case at issue, and no one going in to that funeral even saw the picketers.  Meanwhile, routinely false prophets, media, militant-military members, other officials including politicians, veterans and citizens pile up immediately outside the building, flapping their impotent flags and mouths, making a major ruckus.  So don’t pretend you care if these death-watches are disturbed.  You’ll take all manner of chaos and noise around funerals, so long as the words make you feel better about the crimes you’ve committed against God.

Then he repeats the lying saw, “you can’t yell fire in a theater.”  Wrong!  Here are the words from the Supreme Court:  “The most stringent protection of free speech would not protect a man in falsely shouting fire in a theatre and causing a panic,” Schenck v. United States, 249 U.S. 47, 52, 39 S.Ct. 247, 249, 63 L.Ed. 470, 473 (1919); emphasis added.  If the bloomin’ theater is on fire, you’d better yell fire!  Otherwise don’t pretend you give two hoots about your fellow man, while you stand their smugly watching him burn to death!

The column is disingenuous and disserves the readers.  The only way to silence the lawful peaceful faithful words of Westboro Baptist Church is to rip up the blessing God gave you called the First Amendment, and to uproot settled law.  Admit that’s what you want, because you hate how God is dealing with this nation and that we plainly say his wrath is pouring out on you for your sins.  Stop pretending we ever acted outside the bounds of the constitution.
