Pastor Fred Phelps Loves, Quotes & Preaches From The New Testament Continually!

Romans 10:13 For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be
saved.”

when you call onto jesus and accept the fact that he is lord of all, you accept him into youre heart and turn your life over to so his will can be done, so there for you can accept jesus. also how come i never hear anything from the new testament in any of freds sermons?

Ben –

Anyone who has truly listened to or read the sermons given by Pastor Phelps knows that they have as much from the New Testament as the Old Testament.

This recent sermon is a perfect example: http://www.godhatesfags.com/sermons/outlines/Sermon_20111225.pdf

Further:

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17

If you are going to pluck out a verse, you need to look at the context of a verse. Ro 10:13 doesn’t say that anyone who simply speaks the name of the Lord and says they accept him as their personal savior will go to heaven. It says that “For there is no respect of persons with God.” Romans 2:11 and it expounds on the necessity to preach God’s word.

Romans 10:12 ¶ For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.

13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?

17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

18 But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world.

19 But I say, Did not Israel know? First Moses saith, I will provoke you to jealousy by them that are no people, and by a foolish nation I will anger you.

20 But Esaias is very bold, and saith, I was found of them that sought me not; I was made manifest unto them that asked not after me.

21 But to Israel he saith, All day long I have stretched forth my hands unto a disobedient and gainsaying people.

You don’t get to accept Christ. It’s not up to you. You saying a few words doesn’t change anything.

“No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.” John 6:44

Thanks for writing Ben! The time is short. You have a duty to “Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.” Ecclesiastes 12:13
