God sent the flood to destroy Noah’s world, to wit: Genesis 6:17 And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die.
God separated the waters of the Red Sea and then he brought them back to destroy the most powerful army in that day, to wit:

7 And in the greatness of thine excellency thou hast overthrown them that rose up against thee: thou sentest forth thy wrath, which consumed them as stubble.
