Free Will? Study To Shew Thyself Approved Unto God

ITSABIBLETHING

Does man have a free will? I have read Romans 9. I have read Isaiah 10. In Isaiah 10:3-4 it looks like it is suggested that man has free will, but that person has to explain their actions before God. So there is some kind of responsibility, but it also looks like there is free will to do certain things. Why else would someone has to explain something before God, if God made him or her do it. As I understand, if someone thinks he or she has free will, then God will judge them according to the (bad) things they did. But what about the good deeds? Will that person be judged because of his/her arrogance (that they did something good)? So if you do something bad and you will say that you did it because you wanted to, you are going to be punished according to the “free will” standard. But if there is absolutely no free will in any way, someone also does not have the free will to decide if he or she has free will. And in the book of Arthur Pink it is stated that the Scripture also talks about a responsible creature. So, still, to what extend is a person responsible?

Dear friend – If you open your mouth and say that you have a free will – then out of your mouth, God will judge you. In fact you have NO free will, and you have NOTHING that you did not get from God. So repent of those lying words, if God will give you repentance, and go forth singing the praise of God for His power and His mercy and HIS glory and HIS grace and HIS blessings and HIS benefits and HIS Word and HIS promises and HIS faithfulness and HIS loving-kindness, that he has poured upon the sons of men. PLEASE, do NOT limit God or any of His word or doctrines with YOUR finite mind. Start with the premise, the Judge of all the earth WILL do right, and our God doeth ALL things well.

Here is your responsibility: fear God and keep his commandments. “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil. (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14) THAT is the whole duty of man, and THAT is what you will be responsible before God to account for. The commandments are available to you, if you search them out. You must do that work.

As for all of the rest of your searching and questions, please begin that quest here: Deuteronomy 29:29 “The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.”

If you don’t understand a doctrine and desire to, seek the Lord. If you lack wisdom, “let him ask of God” who promised that he will give you wisdom liberally and he will not upbraid you for it.

“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.” (James 1-5-8)

It would be good to stop doubting, because to please God, you must have faith. Without faith, God says it is IMPOSSIBLE to please him, please see Hebrews 11 – (read all that please.) Plus this underscore that you can count on that you have NO free will, so you have certain safety in that belief and knowledge – great comfort there, because then, you go forth, without doubt. It is wonderful!

“Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them.”     (Acts 10:20)

“And the Spirit bade me go with them, nothing doubting. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered into the man’s house.” (Acts 11:12)

“I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.”           (1 Timothy 2:8)

“And not only this; but when Rebecca also had conceived by one, even by our father Isaac; (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;) It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger. As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated. What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid. For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy. For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth. Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth. Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will? Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus? Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour? What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction: And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory, Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?” (Romans 9:10-24)
