There is great violence all over the earth right now, even as I am talking. It is the kind of violence that led to the Flood of Noah, which destroyed all but eight souls.
Listen: And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart were only evil continually…. And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth. But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD. The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth. And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth. (Gen. 6.5-13.)
In late May, two teenage girls, cousins – a 14-year old and a 16-year old, were attacked and gang raped by three men in India. And if that was not bad enough they were then strangled and hung, together, in a tree.
What was their crime? What did they do to deserve that? Here is what these young girls did: they went outside to a field to use the bathroom because they did not have toilets in their house – they were too poor. That’s it! That was their crime. According to NPR, rape is so common in India that the normal practice is for girls to go to the bathroom outside only once in the morning, and once in the evening and always at least in pairs, because the thought was the rapists will not attack if there is at least two. The police were accused of trying to cover up this horrible crime and at least one of the policemen was arrested.
This is not an isolated incident. You may recall in December 2012, a 23-year old woman was gang raped by 6 men on a bus in New Delphi. Her beating was so severe she suffered organ failure and brain damage. Get this, a metal rod was put inside her with such force that when the attack was over she only had 5% of her intestines left. She was raped, tortured and then stripped naked and left on the side of a road. She held on to life for a few weeks, but eventually passed away from her massive injuries. In India, it appears the men treat their cows better than their women.
And don’t you think this country is any better. In Chicago, over the July 4th weekend, 82 people were shot and 16 died in gun violence – all just in one weekend! (Get some puzzles or a good book, or something.) In 2012 you may remember Chicago was the only city in the U.S. that had more than 500 murders in a year.
Listen up America, you started up big wars (war, after war, after war). You have been the largest exporter of military weapons across the globe for absolute decades. Those weapons have been used to kill millions and millions of people. The U.S. unceremoniously murders 1.5 million babies annually through so called abortions, more than 55 million since 1973’s Roe v. Wade case.
For more than 10 years, Fred Phelps, the pastor of the Westboro Baptist Church reminded this blood lust country that there were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and he told you straight up that that war was unwinnable. You killed hundreds of thousands of people based on a lie that there were weapons of mass destruction there. Now his words ring in your ears as the brutality of ISIS runs rough shod through that country and it disintegrates into chaos and civil war. Where are your military leaders now that were so proud of their bloodshed?
THOU-SHALT-NOT-KILL! – is the standard of God. Listen to the old Englishman Thomas Brooks and see if these words do not perfectly fit the United States of America:
You believe your wealth will buy security, putting your families beyond the reach of danger. But by the murders you committed, you have shamed your name and forfeited your lives. The very stones in the walls of your houses cry out “Lord, we were built up by blood and violence”; and the beams in your ceiling shall answer “True, Lord, even so it is.” The stones shall cry, Vengeance Lord! Upon these self-seekers!” And the beam shall answer “Woe to him, because he built his house with Blood!”
2 Thes. 1:7-9 The Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power.
