John Lennon + God’s Sovereignty

Dear WBC,

If God sent Mark Chapman to kill John Lennon with the express purpose of preventing a future Beatles reunion, then why is it that there have been (and are) many bands which are more objectionable than the Beatles, which have had reunions and have also lasted much longer?   The  event which really removed any hope of a Beatles reunion, was the passing of George Harrison. For a long time, Harrison, McCartney and Starr had considered doing a reunion, with  Julian Lennon and/or Sean Ono Lennon, if they could be brought on board.   re: John Lennon. Being a celeb can be dangerous. As well, one time a mentally-disturbed man broke into George Harrison’s home and attempted to kill him, but didn’t succeed.

Sincerely, Brian.

Dear Friend –

The purposes of God, are God’s!  When Westboro sees any of them, as determined by the facts on the ground, we speak to it.

That said, your questions that bely your contentious heart against the sovereignty of God, will not change the sovereignty of God!  The scripture is FULL of God’s supreme authority over His creation and the actions of mankind.  Let me retype your email to make it scripturally correct and include therein what your purpose appears to be, and then, you MUST do your own work.

Dear WBC, God sent Mark Chapman to kill John Lennon and I do not like for you to point out that a revealed purpose appears to have included the preventing a future Beatles reunion.  In my unlearned opinion, I will contend with God because I think there have been (and still are) many bands which are more objectionable than the Beatles, which have had reunions and have also lasted much longer?   Just so that I can pretend to change your mind, I will postulate that the event which really removed any hope of a Beatles reunion, was the passing of George Harrison. I will pretend that because for a long time, Harrison, McCartney and Starr had considered doing a reunion, with  Julian Lennon and/or Sean Ono Lennon, if they could be brought on board somehow changes that FACT that with NO John Lennon, NO TRUE REUNION!  I will also pretend that the life of George Harrison and his death, were not in the vortex of the sovereignty and providence of God.  I would rather look like a man that does not possess dot-connecting skills than a man that would bow my knee and worship and serve the Lord God Almighty (and here list ALL of his names and attribute ALL of his glory to Him alone.)   Now let me add an irrelevant speech, wherein I pretend that God Almighty did NOT give everything to John Lennon that John Lennon possessed in his lifetime, including gifts, talents, wealth, fame, hair, life, parents, AND, his outstanding characteristic, a HARD heart!  I will ignore all that, and say:  re: John Lennon. Being a celeb can be dangerous. As well, one time a mentally-disturbed man broke into George Harrison’s home and attempted to kill him, but didn’t succeed.  I am not going to give the thanks and praise to God for the fact that George Harrison was permitted additional days on this earth, giving him space to repent in the face of that brush with death.   I am not at all sincere, just full of contention and I will NOT make God my ALL, and I will NEVER, in this life, have that man, Christ Jesus, to rule over me. — Brian

Too bad about that Brian.  God will require all of this at your hand.  There is WAY too much scripture to put it all here, so let me just give you a teaser in the discussion of the potter (God) and the clay (the creation of God).  You should search out each of these verses and all the words before and after them, and then you should quietly read every word of the Bible, and work on that every day!

Isa 29:16  Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the potter’s clay: for shall the work say of him that made it, He made me not? or shall the thing framed say of him that framed it, He had no understanding?

Isa 41:25  I have raised up one from the north, and he shall come: from the rising of the sun shall he call upon my name: and he shall come upon princes as upon morter, and as the potter treadeth clay.

Isa 64:8  But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.

Jer 18:4  And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it. 5  Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,

6  O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.

7  At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it;

Ro 9:21  Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?

The Lord is coming, and these words of life and health come from the best friends you have,

Your humble servants at Westboro Baptist Church.

Phil 4:8  Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
