It’s that time of year again – Summer. Time for the ubiquitous and absolutely worthless vacation bible schools or VBS to be offered by the faux Christian churches. The VBS movement began in the late 1800’s and has turned into a money making proposition for the publishers of such swill.
Vacation Bible Schools are where churches supposedly teach the bible to school age children. Here is a description off the Internet: Modern programs usually consist of a week of religious education which may employ Bible stories, religious song, arts and crafts, skits, or puppet shows.
Churches can either buy a national VBS curriculum or develop their own. Churches do their best to outdo one another. Here is how some of the VBS programs are marketed this year: 1) VBS Weird Animals – Where Jesus’ Love is One-of-a-Kind; 2) Super Kids Super Kamp – The Amazing G-Race, 3) Blast-Off VBS, 4) Jungle Safari VBS, etc. Mt 23:15 “Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.” Those children attending vacation Bible schools, which are just glorified day care centers, are two fold more a child of hell when they come out than when they went in.
Here’s a hint: put away the felt boards, paints, crayons, arts and crafts, skits, puppet shows and fluff and read the Bible to your own children. Deal with the Bible, not as something that has to be sugar coated, but as an authoritative work of God that demands respect, and that addresses every issue that pertains to life and godliness.
Prov. 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
And by the way, you can have all of the Vacation Bible Schools you want but if you teach your children by example: adultery, fornication, sodomy, how to steal, how to commit idolatry, how to lie, how to covet and how to murder you are wasting your time! Also, if you teach them in the Vacation Bible Schools that God Loves Everyone, even though the Bible never once says that, you have taught them foolish lies and deceit.
Isaiah 30:9-10 … This is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the LORD: Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits:
Stop teaching this generation smooth things and start teaching them right things, like the commandments and the fear of God. Instruct the children on why Christ Destroyed Sodom and tied that event to his second coming.
De 4:9-10 Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons’ sons; Specially the day that thou stoodest before the LORD thy God in Horeb, when the LORD said unto me, Gather me the people together, and I will make them hear my words, that they may learn to fear me all the days that they shall live upon the earth, and that they may teach their children.
Ps 34:11 Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD.
Eccl 12:12-14 And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh. ¶ Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
