We have come to the time of year when the Universities of this nation are holding graduations, full of pomp and ceremony – the pride of life, in the form of human achievement is glorified. Millions of foolish words will be spouted from podiums across this nation, in the form of commencement addresses from students, teachers, principals, community leaders, and government officials. These words will be devoid of godliness, but the servants of God at WBC have a few faithful, heartfelt words of truth, hope, health, and life to offer, so pull up a chair, and lend us your ear, class of 2014 – it won’t take long, and you’ll be glad you did!
First off, my friends, understand this: you’ve been lied to since the day you were born! Your parents, your relatives, your pastor, your teachers, the media – they have all taught you, by their words and their deeds, that God is a liar, and that his commandments are of none effect. Your parents had a duty to raise you up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. It was a unique opportunity to show their obedience to God, by teaching you his commandments – binding them upon you, and putting them as blinders before your eyes. The countenance of this perverse generation testifies that they utterly failed in their duty to you. Did they teach you that God loves everyone? Did they teach you that he “loves the sinner and hates the sin”? Did they divorce and remarry, thereby teaching you that adultery is ok? Did they teach you to serve idols, including that greatest of all idols called the human heart? Did they teach you that it is ok for you to fornicate? Did they teach you that you can abort any baby created by your fornications, with impunity? Did they teach you that it’s ok to be a fag? Did they drag you into whorehouses masquerading as churches wherein all of the preceding folly was taught and encouraged? Did they teach you that you could proudly engage in all of the preceding, and that good old Jesus would take you to heaven when you die? If so, then you’ve been lied to! We’re very sorry that they lied to you, but if you are hearing me now, then God has still given you the breath of life on this day, and it is incumbent upon you to depart from the iniquity of your parents, and humbly submit yourselves unto God.
By getting your diploma, you may think that you are now accomplished, and prepared for life – think again! Everything that you spent the last several years learning is vanity, and is utterly worthless in the eyes of your creator.
1Corinthians 3:19 “For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.”
It’s time for a new view of what wisdom is:
Psalm 111:10 “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.”
How can you obey God’s commandments, but that you know them? It’s time now to crack a Bible, my friends! It’s time now to get about studying the Scriptures, with the same fervency that you went about seeking after drugs, drink, and strange flesh on your campuses. It’s time to study diligently, like you’ve never studied before, while seeking the face of the God that created you – the God that you have callously profaned throughout your short lives.
2 Timothy 2:15, 16 “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.”
Your parents have provoked you to wrath, sorrow and hopelessness by denying you the words of God, but in kindness and mercy God has put his servants in the earth to warn you. You have come to years now, and must decide if you will serve God, or idols.
Hebrews 11:24-26 “By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter. Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward.”
So – will you join with Moses, and pursue the narrow path to eternal life, or will you follow the teeming masses in the wide path to hell.
We at WBC pray for any among you that have sheep’s ears – come out from this wicked generation, and repent, my dear friends. For the rest, we thank that righteous God who has already justly condemned you, and set you loose as a punishment – a just recompense – on this wicked nation. Consider it – a generation of ignorant, selfish, impudent, libidinous beasts raised up for destruction. How fitting.
