Global Warming

Lord is Coming

Earlier this week, a White House report on climate change came out. We are being warned that climate change is already upon us, and that we can expect more and worse flooding, wildfires, drought, hurricanes, tornadoes and other severe storms, etc. I believe that Westboro Baptist Church has been warning you about this for a few decades now. We’ve been telling you that these things are happening and will happen as adumbrations of the final day of judgment. We’ve been telling you that

“God is jealous, and the LORD revengeth; the LORD revengeth, and is furious; the LORD will take vengeance on his adversaries, and he reserveth wrath for his enemies. The LORD is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked: the LORD hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet. He rebuketh the sea, and maketh it dry, and drieth up all the rivers: Bashan languisheth, and Carmel, and the flower of Lebanon languisheth. The mountains quake at him, and the hills melt, and the earth is burned at his presence, yea, the world, and all that dwell therein. Who can stand before his indignation? and who can abide in the fierceness of his anger? his fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are thrown down by him. The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him. But with an overrunning flood he will make an utter end of the place thereof, and darkness shall pursue his enemies.” Nahum 1:2-8.

Not only are you not repenting of your trespasses against God, you won’t even acknowledge that God is the one sending this severe weather your way. Look:

“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.  For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:  Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.  Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools…” Romans 1:18-22.

You have God revealing Himself to you in these things that are made, but you refuse to give Him the glory, and you refuse to be thankful.

While you’re off pontificating about how many inches you think the oceans are going to rise over the next few centuries, or debating about whether the average temperature on earth is going to rise by 2 degrees or, I don’t know, 3 degrees, there’s a much larger problem that you should be worrying about: the heavens and the earth are currently reserved for destruction by fire, and your soul is not ready for it. You have not repented, and that day will come like a thief in the night. You’re talking about a few degrees, and I’m talking about the heavens dissolving, the elements melting with a fervent heat, and you punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord.

“But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.” 2 Peter 3:10-13.

“Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you; And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed ) in that day.”

2 Thessalonians 1:6-10.
