Is this what we are seeing?  Is this happening before your very eyes?

And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy (a short time), clothed in sackcloth.

And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.

And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.

And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves.

And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.

And after three days and an half the Spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them.  (Revelation 11:3, 7-11).

“Two witnesses” – that is to say, a very small number compared to the world’s population, but enough to get the job done.

“Dead bodies” in the street – that is to say, that state of things is as though these witnesses were lying in the street unburied, which signifies very disrespectful and dishonorable treatment.  During the time specified, these witnesses are treated with indignity and contempt.

Spiritually “called Sodom” – that is to say, it is distinguished for that great sin named after the ancient city of Sodom.  In other words: sodomy, same-sex marriage; gay rights; etc.

Spiritually “called . . . Egypt” – that is to say, famous for their oppression and wrong toward the people of God, just like Pharaoh’s Egypt of old.

“Where also our Lord was crucified” – that is to say, a reference to the Lord’s church, suggesting the treatment of his friends at the time described here is such that it can fairly be said Christ is crucified afresh.

“Clothed in sackcloth” – that is to say, they are afflicted and persecuted, and in deep sorrow for the abominations against which they protest.

“Rejoice” and “make merry” – that is to say, the earth-dwellers have a big party, exchange gifts, dance in the street and generally celebrate when they believe the Lord’s message has seemingly been silenced by death.

“People and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies” – that is to say, there will be a global audience for these witnesses, watching closely as this testimony unfolds.

So, I ask you again:  Is this what we are seeing?  Is this happening before your very eyes?

If not, you tell me what these verses in Revelation Chapter 11 are all about!  Please do tell me, because I have a strong desire to understand this fascinating language and the interesting times it describes.

Thank you!
