Christ used the term in self-description.
I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. (John 15:1)
I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. (John 15:5)
Vine time.
“Vine” is used in describing the degeneracy of a society.
For their vine is of the vine of Sodom, and of the fields of Gomorrah: their grapes are grapes of gall, their clusters are bitter: their wine is the poison of dragons, and the cruel venom of asps. (Deuteronomy 32:32, 33)
Vine time.
The same term is used in describing the true church and her enemies.
Thou hast brought a vine out of Egypt: thou has cast out the heathen, and planted it. * * * * Return, we beseech thee, O God of hosts: look down from heaven, and behold, and visit this vine; and the vineyard which thy right hand hath planted, and the branch that thou madest strong for thyself. (Psalms 80:8, 14, 15)
Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vines: for our vines have tender grapes. (Song of Solomon 2:15)
Vine time.
Vines are referenced in scriptures describing God’s punishments.
He smote their vines also and their fig trees; and brake the trees of their coasts. (Psalm 105:33).
And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll: and all their host shall fall down, as the leaf falleth off from the vine, and as a falling fig from the fig tree. (Isaiah 34:4)
And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God. (Revelation 14:19)

And we see references to “vine” in passages on heaven.
But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom. (Matthew 26:29).
