if you were to summarize the overall theme of Christ’s ministry and indeed the entirety of the Gospel, it is “Repent or Perish.”
To Members of Westboro Baptist Church,
I am a high school student and an advocate for gay rights. I am writing to you today to discuss the terrible things you have been doing to protest same-sex marriage and homosexuality. I understand that you feel this way because of your religion, but that is not an excuse to be hateful.
The bible speaks of forgiveness for sin. It says, “For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.” (Matthew 6:14-15). So why will you not forgive the homosexual people for what you consider to be a “sin”?
