And If A Woman Shall Put Away Her Husband, And Be Married To Another, She Committeth Adultery. Mark 10:12.

Subject: Divorce/Remarriage/Forgiveness

I have been married 3 times. I had a child out of wedlock @ 16, but later married the father and had 2 other children during the marriage. The marriage was violent and unhealthy to say the least, so we divorced. I remarried to another man, but had no children with him. He divorced me. I am now married to a friend that i have known since i was 13. We do not have children together, but he has 3 children from a previous marriage as well. If we both now live for the Lord Jesus Christ and have repented for our sins against him, even though we have been divorced and remarried do we still receive his mercy on our souls?

Hi Melissa, this is easy. According to Christ if you marry, divorce and remarry you commit adultery. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. The Lord God hates putting away. Below are just some of the verses on this.  Don’t commit adultery/whoremongery – it is violation of the Commandments and leads to hell fire.

Mark 10:2  And the Pharisees came to him, and asked him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife? tempting him. 3  And he answered and said unto them, What did Moses command you? 4  And they said, Moses  suffered to write a bill of divorcement, and to put her away. 5  And Jesus answered and said unto them, For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept. 6  But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. 7  For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; 8  And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh. 9  What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. 10  And in the house his disciples asked him again of the same matter. 11  And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her. 12  And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery.

Mal. 2:14thou hast dealt treacherously: yet is she thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant. 15  And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth. 16  For the LORD, the God of Israel, saith that he hateth putting away: for one covereth violence with his garment, saith the LORD of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit, that ye deal not treacherously. 17  Ye have wearied the LORD with your words. Yet ye say, Wherein have we wearied him? When ye say, Every one that doeth evil is good in the sight of the LORD, and he delighteth in them; or, Where is the God of judgment?

Rev. 21:7  He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. 8  But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Hebrews 13:4:  Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.

Ex 20:14  Thou shalt not commit adultery.

Le 20:10  And the man that committeth adultery with another man’s wife, even he that committeth adultery with his neighbour’s wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.

De 5:18  Neither shalt thou commit adultery.

Pr 6:32  But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul.

Jer 3:8  And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also.

Jer 3:9  And it came to pass through the lightness of her whoredom, that she defiled the land, and committed adultery with stones and with stocks.

Jer 5:7  How shall I pardon thee for this? thy children have forsaken me, and sworn by them that are no gods: when I had fed them to the full, they then committed adultery, and assembled themselves by troops in the harlots’ houses.

Jer 7:9  Will ye steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense unto Baal, and walk after other gods whom ye know not;4 Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.
