No Man Can Come To Christ Unless God Calls Him

WBC –

So I have a question. What does someone have to do to become a Christian?

Hi Jerome –

Thanks for writing to signmovies.com. Also visit all our sister sites as indicated on the website.

You cannot do anything to become a “Christian”. John 6:44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

However, you have a duty as all other humans to follow the two Commands which the Lord Jesus states that all the law and prophets (i.e. the written words of God and His prophets) hang upon: Read that at Matthew 22:34-40 But when the Pharisees had heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, they were gathered together. Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying, Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

In conclusion, a person is a Christian if they follow after the LORD Jesus Christ. That is what happens if God has mercy upon you, and calls you from the corrupt mass of mankind, and saves you unto Himself.

1Peter 2:1-12 Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings, As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious. To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious, Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded. Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner, And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed. But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy. Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul; Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.

Please do a little research before you send any more questions. What are you going to ask next? “What’s the meaning of life?” or “Where do souls go when the body dies?”?!  Dude, we did not take you to raise, and if you are old enough to ask that question via EMAIL, you are old enough to do some reading in a Bible. However, I can understand in this day and age if you do not know where to find a Bible. That does not change your duty:

Read Acts 17.
