If Your Right Eye Offends You, Pluck It Out. Matthew 18:9.

Hello my name is tom. I am 17 and I am gay I find it disgusting I wish there was something I could I feel ashamed by this I have prayed to god to help me I would do anything to become straight I would do anything and I beg you for your help I know mother is secretly disgusted please help me. tom Dear Tom,

Stop engaging in that act that your Creator calls abomination, that the God of eternity destroyed whole societies for, and that the Almighty determined was worthy of eternal Hell fire (Lev. 18:22, Genesis 19, Judges 19-21, Romans 1:18-32). Stop making excuses.

Just do it.

You want to know what the secret of life is? Ecclesiastes 12:13 lays it out for you: Ec 12:13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. Just do it. Make it your life’s work. Put every resource (time, energy, money, skill, etc., etc.) into this effort. Unlike everything else you do in your life, this would be the one thing that is *not* vanity.

You want to know what the Lord Jesus Christ says in response to the nefarious “I Can’t Help It” argument? Matthew 18: “8 Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee [offend = causes you to sin], cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire. 9 And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire.”

But there is one caveat, sir, that I must inform you of: the only way you will be able to sincerely repent of your sins and devote your entire measly existence to the sovereign God, is if He has elected you to salvation and has given you grace, a heart to know/love Him, and the blood and righteousness of our Savior, Christ Jesus. If the Lord hasn’t given you that, you have exactly no chance of being freed from your sinful state (Romans 9 & 11, Ephesians 2:1-10, Jeremiah 24:7, Titus 2:11-15).

It is a supremely desolate place to be in: a stranger from the covenant of promise and without God and without hope in this earth. But I can’t give you grace or fix the mess you are in. Only the Lord your God can. That’s all I can tell you.

Thanks for writing. On behalf of your friends at the Westboro Baptist Church
