Culture? Yeah, We’ve Got Some Culture!

Questions from: Curt

Answers from: a blessed little lamb from WBC

1. What is the average size and composition of this culture?  Westboro Baptist Church is just the size that our Lord would have her, and made up of living stones.  We are diverse, coming from every nation, kindred, tongue and tribe, pursuant to the good will of our Lord.  We have one common bond – serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear, in our generation, knowing that our God is a consuming fire.

2. What is the authority structure in this culture? The authority is the Lord Jesus Christ.  The structure is called decently and in order, and that is pursuant to the dictates handed down from Christ and captured in writing by the New Testament writers in such places as Titus and 1 & 2 Timothy and more.

3. What are the roles in this culture?  We are one body, but many members (happy and thankful) of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ.  We have a Pastor.  He is called the Star in the Right Hand of God (Rev 1) and we also are called heirs and joint heirs with Jesus Christ.  I’m not sure what you are looking for here.  We have elders, men that stand up and are counted, full of the spirit, prepared for that office by our Lord, for his glory.  All toward the end that we all seek, to be made and found worthy to escape the affliction that is coming on all the earth and to be made and found worthy to stand before our Lord.  This bride is preparing herself.

4. Do cultural traditions have certain expectations of male and female members?  YES!  They are not traditions, they are the watermarks of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, as set out in scripture, again, I would suggest you begin at Titus, and then, as you read the Bible, you see how that looks on the ground.

5. What is the quality/nature of human relationships within the culture?  In the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, you find brotherly love.  It is a true love for your fellow elect.  It is a thing that shines forth in the world.  It is the thing that sets the elect of God apart from the rest of the world.  By that unfeigned love of the elect of God, and a submission to one another and a counting of one another as better than ourselves, and more, that the world knows that we are the children of God!  See 1 John for some good words on that brotherly love that is found ONLY in the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ.

6. What is the culture’s attitude toward sex and sexuality?  We find sex to be God sanctioned WITHIN the structure set out by God, to wit:  Hebrews 13:4 Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.  PERIOD.  Be clear on the standard of God found in Malachi 2 and in Genesis 3 and Matthew 19 and Luke 16:18 and many other places, to wit:  ONE MAN, ONE WOMAN for ONE LIFETIME!  I don’t know what you mean by sexuality, so I won’t touch that, go with what I said!

7. What are the culture’s attitudes toward marriage and family?  If God gives you a spouse, YAY!  If not, YAY! Refer back to Hebrews 13:4.  With marriage comes family if God does not shut up your womb.  So YAY!  I refer you to Psalm 127 and 128 for some excellent words on children and family.  You might love those words.  I do!

8. What occupations or types of work are represented by your ancestors? Are these choices typical of the culture’s?  WHAT?!  My dad was an attorney and the Pastor of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ.  My mom was the wife of the Pastor of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Other than that, your question is not important.

9. What are culture’s attitudes toward work and vocations?  Get a job and go to work,  Do lots of work.  “We’ll Work Till Jesus Comes” — it’s a song — we love it!  God directs our steps and so we all have vocations that are perfect for this hour.  We think that if you are going to work, you need a vocation.

10.  What are your culture’s attitudes toward education?  Get lots of education.  You need that for vocations and work.  But our attitude about that education when juxtaposed to our education that we have from God in his word, is nothing.  Paul put it very well here:  Php 3:4   Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more:  5  Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee;  6  Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.  7  But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.  8  Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ.

11. What place does religion play in your family? In the culture?  It is the center piece of our life.  It is our life.  We have no purpose to live in this earth except to serve God and preach a pure gospel message, unapologetically to this last generation of humans!
12. What is the culture’s attitude toward material versus spiritual values?  Blah, blah.  Here is the best answer:  Galatians 6:8  For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

13. What are the most difficult intergenerational issues of families in this culture?  We don’t have those. We are of one mind.

14.  What difficulties did members of this culture have in adjusting to the mainstream society? NONE!  However, truthfully, some days we step nicely to avoid the haters that don’t want us to live in this earth.

14.5 What was different for the first and second generation  (or if relevant third and fourth generation) in the United States?  Only that the rebels in this earth have waxed worse and worse from the days of our ancients to the days we live in now.  YAY!

15. What are the culture’s greatest strengths for coping/adjusting?  Believe, trust and obey God.  I think this says it well, to wit: Proverbs 3:5  Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.  6  In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  7   Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.  8  It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.  9  Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:
16. How are conflicts/disagreements resolved in the church?  Peaceably.  No problem doing that among people who have unfeigned love.  Spiritual people that know they could be the next soul to be taken in some fault, go in fear and trembling to restore their loved one with a spirit of meekness, knowing that we are all sinners and deserve hell.  But for mercy from God, we would get hell.

Here is a good attitudinal approach to begin your understanding on this.  1 Corinthians 6:1   Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unjust, and not before the saints?  2  Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?  3  Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?  4  If then ye have judgments of things pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church.  5  I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you? no, not one that shall be able to judge between his brethren?  6  But brother goeth to law with brother, and that before the unbelievers.  7  Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong? why do ye not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded?  8  Nay, ye do wrong, and defraud, and that your brethren.

Add this:  Galatians 6:1   Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.

17.  What other cultural groups are most respected and for what reason?  NONE!

18.  What other cultural groups are least respected and for what reason?  This question is as broad as the great outdoors!

19. Is the traditional culture still in tact or has it changed greatly? Is there still a cultural community?  These words might be good for understanding:  Pr 4:18  But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.  Add this:  Ps 97:11  Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart.  In other words, it just gets better and better!  Add one more thing.  Mark 4:26  And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground;  27  And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how.  28  For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear.  29  But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come.

20. What historical dates, beliefs, attitudes are most important to this culture?   Only an attitude of obedience to God and Christ, and all else flows from that!  In fact, go with this:  Ec 12:13  Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
21. Were biracial, biethnic, or bireligious marriages common? How were such relationships perceived, encouraged, and/or discouraged within the culture?  The only forbidden union is that of a believer with a non-believer.  That principle is put nicely here:  2 Corinthians 6:14  Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?  15  And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?  16  And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.  17  Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,  18  And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

22.  Multiculturally speaking, what do you think are the major problems in cross-cultural issues today? Do you believe this common viewpoint would be held by others of the same cultural heritage?  Blah, blah – the problem with this generation is that you have all whole-sale forsaken the commandments of God and more words on that.  Nothing else matters.  With the race to put fag marriage in every corner of the world, this generation has nothing left except to watch their final destruction play out.  No other society has dared marry fags since God destroyed Noah’s generation with the flood.  Not even Sodom dared do such a thing.  That rebellion will be answered and you won’t like the answer.

23. As a last part of the interview, you might ask the interviewee to identify: his or her gripes about life, society etc and what most needs to be done in society to improve it.  See all the answers above.  I have no gripes, I just have standards of God that the people of God insist upon putting before the face of our generation!  There is no option, there is no compromise, there is no plan that will work except obey the commandments of God.  PERIOD.  NO GRIPES. =)
