It is specifically the job of all disciples of Christ, not just those of his contemporaries during his 3 ½ year ministry, to go into the world and preach the gospel to every creature. It is specifically the job of all disciples of Christ, everywhere, and not just the prophet Isaiah, to cry aloud, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and show the people their transgressions. It is specifically the job of all disciples of Christ, everywhere, and not Ezekiel only, to cause Jerusalem (or wherever your hometown is), to know their abominations. And it is specifically the job of all disciples of Christ, or Christians, the world over, to obey that great commandment given to us by our king to ‘love our neighbors as ourselves,’ which is defined in God’s book, as warning your neighbor when his sins are taking him to hell, rather than colliding him in them, or suffering them upon him. Signs can be useful tools in tending to all of the aforementioned duties. Signs are powerful. They convey messages, often core, ‘get-at-the-heart-of-things’, messages, when there is no time to stop and read a book or pamphlet or chat about a topic. We carry and hold up biblically-accurate and expositive signs all around this world, coming specifically to where you are, both literally and virtually, in our humble service to the king of the place, trying to do the preaching that we are given an unction to perform. Our love for you is genuine, bible-based love. Not Christian mingle-tingle-jingle, and we use those signs to get after the vital issues that involve a person’s soul – heaven, hell, eternity, right and wrong. Sin and righteousness. Christ and his sovereignty. Satan and his influence and dominion in this world. Repentance. Signs can also be tremendously useful to someone who is compelled to convey a message from a specific geographic locale – or fixed location. Why, we have a sign right outside the little church building where we meet that shines forth bible truth 24 hours a day. 7 days a week. Bible truth. We use that sign to preach against the front-burner sins of the world. We use that sign to preach against sins that no one even regards as sin anymore. We use that sign to disabuse people of inaccurate scriptural notions. We use that sign to glorify and magnify God’s name – reminding all comers of his providence – his omnipotence – his omniscience – and each of our complete dependence upon him for all things. So whether you’re just driving by, or you’re just kind of a looky loo, or you think you’ve come to visit the fags at the sodomite rainbow house across the street (when in fact, you’ve come to have your soul indicted by being simultaneously exposed to the only truth available in this waste howling wilderness and smash-mouth, in your face defiance against your maker – that being the advocacy for homosexuality, we are delighted – thrilled, in fact, to know that you see our little sign – and the bible-accurate sentiments expressed thereon week after glorious week. Praise God. The fixed signs, or marquees, however, on the lawns of hundreds of thousands of churches across this evil nation, also indict their souls by being either makers or lovers of lies – those two categories among six who have no hope of heaven – as specifically outlined in scripture by our lord and savior Jesus Christ in the revelation at chapter 22 verses 14 and 15: blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie. The makers of lies are those who lead the false churches and are not only ministers of Satan, but his children:ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. The lovers of the lies made and told at these dens of iniquity are the congregants – the ‘members’ or ‘parishioners’ – these same people love the lies that they are told and will have nothing to do with true words – even paying satanic ministers to utter lies in their ears. Now go, write it before them in a table, and note it in a book, that it may be for the time to come for ever and ever: that this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the lord: which say to the seers, see not; and to the prophets, prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits:. So let’s take a brief look at the use made of signs by the ministers of Satan that encompass us about. Ah – the first southern baptist church – right here in Topeka – God has a plan for your life – to give you hope and a future. The good old smoky pie finger of ‘God has a plan for your life’ that rick warren has made a mint off of. Here’s God’s plan – the wicked shall be turned into hell – and all the nations that forget God. That’s bible. Oh – and right down the way is the central congregational church of Topeka Kansas – or as i like to call it – the dyke cattle call. Their sign says ‘God is still speaking’ – yes – he is – but i have no idea what this means. You gotta use a lotta vagueness and esoterica when you are bereft of truth and humility. Well – let’s see what words God is speaking – thou shalt not lie with mankind as with womankind – it is abomination. Not smooth enough, apparently, for the ears at good old central congregational. On a side note, they have a ‘lady’ who goes to this church who does her darndest to look like Ernest P. Worrell. Wonder if her getup includes a fake y chromosome? Next we have this nugget of wisdom – stop truth decay – brush up on the bible. Southwest christian church – right over there on Huntoon. Kinda folksy. And they always seem to have something cute on their sign – general ‘red state sensibilities’ type stuff. Always hallmarky. But these are serious times, brother. Sister. This is a completely untoward generation. And you’re going religious Mr. Rogers? How about preaching on the consequence of that decay you quip about? Eternity in hell. Preach against sin, mr hail fellow well-met. Preach about why God destroyed Sodom. Preach on divorce and remarriage as sin. Get off of that christian light marketing plan. Here’s one – you have 1 new friend request – Jesus – confirm or ignore. Cute. Free will much? You do despite unto the spirit of grace and miss the boat on the sovereignty of God talking this way. Rev. Darrin lee. Here’s one – give God what’s right – not what’s left. Yuck yuck. Though the tithe is a serious biblical notion, it is certainly not one correctly viewed by a folksy guilt quip. And more – 7 days without prayer makes one weak. Yuck yuck. Walmart is not the only saving place. Really? God wants soul custody – not week end visitation. Here’s a beaut. What is missing from chch? U r. That’s powerful bible preaching at its finest. God answers knee mail. Wow. The united church of Christ wants you to know that to err is human to arrr is pirate. And finally – im not making this stuff up – victory baptist church want you to be the person your dog thinks you are.
With all these folksy, quippy, simplistic puns and metaphors, you false preachers, you ministers of satan, weary the lord. Ye have wearied the lord with your words. Yet ye say, wherein have we wearied him? When ye say, every one that doeth evil is good in the sight of the lord, and he delighteth in them; or, where is the God of judgment? You cause the people to err when your preaching implies that God loves everyone or that there is no judgment, or eternal hell, to worry about. And you people who desire and pay for such syrupy nonsense to be your ‘religion’ – you will answer for that. Meanwhile we say repent, for the time of his coming is at hand. Meanwhile, you can always drive by the sign in front of our little church house, and be comforted with words of life and truth, for we are commanded to: preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
