This mysterious disease, which has no cure, is affecting a growing number of children in east Africa. The cause is unknown, but many doctors think it may be related to onchocerciasis – a parasitic condition that can cause blindness. Symptoms include continual seizure activity that causes the child to lose consciousness while walking, loss of cognitive ability and stunted growth.
