Punishment for Jews is/feels worse-because every time God adds some iniquity in for the Sin of the Calf. When you thankless disobedient Jews came out of miraculous marvelous Egyptian bondage, and immediately made a gold calf and had a wild orgy (while Moses was getting the law in the mount), you brought the wrath of God on you.
Behold, mine Angel shall go before thee: nevertheless in the day when I visit I will visit their sin upon them. And the LORD plagued the people, because they made the calf, which Aaron made, Ex. 32:34-35.
3600 years later God is still plaguing you. He hasn’t cut you off only for his own glory-because he has 144,000 elect Jews to restore.
